What is art therapy?

Art therapy combines the method of pictorial representation and psychotherapy to facilitate self-exploration and understanding ourselves easier. Using images, colours and forms within the scope of this creative therapeutic process helps to express thoughts and feelings which would otherwise be difficult to describe. The proverb “one image reveals more than a thousand words” is certainly true.

Understanding inner processes via pictorial language helps people to discover resources, to mobilise self-healing powers and to stimulate change processes.

This method follows depth psychology, behavioral therapy, systemic and holistic approaches.

In practice, art therapy is suitable both as sole therapy and in addition to other therapy forms.

Art therapy is suitable for single persons, couples and groups.
